You need a fire that fits the wall you already have. If you want a wide contemporary flame to anchor one room, with real supplemental warmth and an installation that doesn’t touch the rest of the house, that’s the 62-inch Astound SlimMount. A gas unit will out-heat it, but it brings venting, a gas line, and a much bigger project along with it. What Makes It Special The whole unit is four inches deep, front to back. It recesses into a standard 2″ × 4″ framed wall or hangs on the surface with barely any projection, and the edge panels and trim for both installs come in the box. No venting, no gas line—it plugs into a standard outlet or can be hardwired, so the job stays small and the result looks built-in. The fire itself is the point. Orange flames, yellow, or both, over an included woodland glass ember bed, with 13 top light and ember color options and more combinations in the Napoleon Home app. The glass is tinted and anti-glare, so you see the fire, not your lamp reflected in it. The included remote runs everything—thermostat, a 7-day schedule, flame, ember bed, and top lights—and Google Home or Alexa can drive it by voice. ECO mode runs at half heat on mild evenings; BOOST runs the heater at max with a faster blower when the room needs to warm up now. Possible Downsides • It warms one room, not the house. Plan on it as comfort heat for the space it hangs in, with the furnace holding the baseline.• Everything on it runs on electricity. In a power outage there’s no flame and no heat; a gas or wood unit is the one for outage cover.• Only the woodland glass media is included. The colored glass ember kits are optional add-ons. If you want the fire without the construction, the 62-inch Astound SlimMount is the right decision. The wall everyone faced anyway becomes the reason they stay in the room. Optional glass ember kits in amber, black, blue, clear, red, and topaz, a small black crystal media kit, and a wall mount controller with black or white covers let you tune the media bed and the controls to the room.
