You need a fire that fits inside the wall you already have. If you want a fire more than six feet wide anchoring a living room, bedroom, or office without venting or construction, this is the one to look at. Choose a deeper unit and recessing it means rebuilding the wall; the 74-inch Astound SlimMount slips into the wall as it stands, or hangs on it with barely any projection. What Makes It Special The whole unit is four inches deep. It recesses fully into a standard framed wall or mounts on the surface, and the edge panels and trim for either look come in the box. Plug it in or hardwire it—either way, there is no chimney, no gas line, and no venting to run. The flame is dynamic and lifelike, with drifting sparks over the included Woodland glass media, and the glass is tinted and anti-glare, so you see the fire, not your lamp. Thirteen top light and ember color options come standard, more combinations live in the Napoleon Home app, and the included remote handles on and off, the thermostat, and a 7-day schedule. Google Home and Alexa work too—turn on the fireplace without leaving the couch. For heat, ECO mode runs at half power on mild evenings and BOOST mode runs the heater at maximum with a faster blower on cold ones. Expect it to warm approximately 150–250 square feet—a bedroom, office, or den—and the flames alone cost pennies a night to run. Possible Downsides • It warms one room, not the house. Electric is the better accent; if you need house-scale heat, gas is the better heater.• Full heat calls for a dedicated 15-amp circuit. If the wall doesn’t have one, an electrician is part of the job.• The colored glass ember kits are optional.
