What Makes It Special The Ascent 42 doesn’t depend on household power. Its battery back-up control means the fire still lights when the power is out—keep batteries in it, or top it up with your own power bank, and a January outage is an inconvenience instead of a cold night. The sealed fire keeps making heat while the rest of the street waits for the lights to come back. Day to day, it’s a fire you set and forget. The hand-painted split oak log set comes standard, so it looks like a wood fire without the work of one. Add the thermostatic remote and set 70 and the fireplace holds the room there on its own, cycling as needed. If you want the warmth to reach farther, an optional fan pushes it across the room, and an optional hot air distribution kit moves it to another room entirely.
