What Makes It Special The Ascent 46 is the widest fireplace in Napoleon’s Ascent line, with a fire almost 42 inches across—big enough to be the focal point of the room, not a window into one. The hand-painted split oak log set comes standard, so from the couch it reads as a real fire, not an appliance. Here’s the quiet advantage: it still lights and keeps making heat when the power goes out—as long as you’ve kept batteries in the back-up, or you plug in your own power bank. The furnace quits with the grid; this room stays warm anyway. Possible Downsides • The heat-circulating fan is optional, not included—add the fan kit if you want warm air pushed across the room.• Remote controls and the wall thermostat are also add-ons; the base unit ships without one.• The beach fire, mineral rock, and woodland media kits need a separate support bracket.
