You need a fire that fills the wall without overwhelming the room. If the six-foot flame is the point—a fire you leave on all evening while the furnace handles the heavy lifting—the Napoleon Ascent Linear 76 was built for you. Choose a high-output linear instead and you’ll spend winter turning the fire off just when you’d rather be watching it. What Makes It Special The fire itself runs 69 inches across, burning over an included bed of topaz crushed glass. That’s a fire big enough to carry an entire wall, and the moderate heat behind it—approx. 750 to 1,500 square feet—means it warms the room instead of emptying the couch. This is the one Ascent Linear size that takes Napoleon’s Ducted Heat Management system, which routes the fire’s heat through ducts instead of pouring it out the front. The payoff is true zero clearance to combustible materials—no fear of heat damage to what hangs above—and the option to install it as a room divider between two spaces. And when the power goes out, the fire still lights. Battery back-up keeps the ignition working through an outage—batteries aren’t included, and your own power bank will do the job. Possible Downsides • The fan is optional, not included. If you want warm air pushed across the room, the blower is an add-on.• Log sets and media kits are sold separately. The topaz crushed glass ember bed is the only media in the box.• This is the moderate-heat linear. For a six-foot fire that works harder as a heater, look at the Ascent Linear Premium or the Vector. If you want the fire to span the wall without taking over the room, the Ascent Linear 76 is the right decision. The wall it lives on becomes the reason everyone ends up in that room. The look is yours to build: split oak, birch, driftwood, or beach fire log kits, mineral rock, shore fire, and woodland media, glass beads and embers in amber, black, blue, clear, red, and topaz, ledgestone or reflective black porcelain interior panels, and a four-sided black finishing trim.
