Who It’s For In an open floor plan, a standard fireplace makes you choose which side of the wall gets the fire—the living room enjoys it while the dining room stares at drywall. You need a fire both rooms can see. If the fireplace is going into a wall that divides two spaces your family actually uses, and you want the fire to belong to both of them, the Napoleon Ascent Multi-View is built for exactly that. Choose a single-sided unit instead and one of those rooms goes without. What Makes It Special The fire sits inside the wall itself, framed in glass on both faces, so it works as a room divider that both rooms share—the focal point of the living room is the same fire that warms dinner on the other side. A safety barrier is included on both faces, and it’s backed by Napoleon’s President’s Limited Lifetime warranty. Here’s the part that matters in January: it still lights and keeps you warm when the power is out. The ignition has a battery backup, so an outage doesn’t turn your heat source into a dark glass box—as long as you’ve kept batteries in it. Possible Downsides • The battery backup takes 4 AA batteries, and they aren’t included. Outage operation depends on you keeping fresh ones in it.• Remote controls are optional, not included. On/off and thermostatic remotes are add-ons.• Decorative interior panels are add-ons. The reflective porcelain and brick looks are optional extras, not standard.
