You need a fire both rooms can see at once. If you’re planning a room divider, or a wall where the living room and the kitchen or dining room should share one focal point, a single-sided unit will always leave one room looking at drywall. The see-through Napoleon Luxuria LVX62 is built for exactly that wall. What Makes It Special The glass guard is triple-pane and safe to touch, so there’s no mesh safety screen in front of the fire. You see flames across a viewing area more than five feet wide—a fire, not a window into one—and kids and guests can stand near it without worry. Dynamic Heat Control comes standard. It moves heat away from the surfaces above without a fan, so a TV or artwork can hang directly over the fire, and finish materials can run right up to the edge of the fireplace. No fan also means the fireplace isn’t the loudest thing in either room. Multi-colored LED lights in the ember bed and above the fire mean it earns its place in July too—lit and glowing with the flames off. An optional indoor/outdoor kit even lets the LVX62 sit in an exterior wall, sharing one fire between the living room and the patio. Possible Downsides • The fire media is a required, separate purchase. Logs, glass, or another media kit must be chosen before the fireplace is complete.• No fan is included. Pushing heat beyond the immediate rooms takes the optional Dynamic Heat Control Plus fan kit.• The indoor/outdoor kit runs on a 6–8 week lead time, so an exterior-wall installation needs to be planned ahead. Media options range from high-definition oak, driftwood, and birch log sets to woodland, mineral rock, and beach fire kits, glass beads and embers in a range of colors, and wrought iron globes, so the fire can match either room it faces.
