If the natural home for your fire is the wall between two rooms—living and dining, kitchen and great room—a single-sided unit makes you pick a favorite. You need a fire you can see from both sides of the wall. If you’re building or remodeling and want one fire anchoring two rooms at once, the Napoleon Luxuria 74 see-through is the one; choose a standard single-sided unit instead and one of those rooms lives with drywall where the fire could have been. What Makes It Special The glass is a triple-pane guard that is safe to touch, so both rooms get an unobstructed view of more than six feet of flame with no mesh safety screen between you and the fire. Dynamic Heat Control comes included. It keeps the wall above the fireplace cool enough for a TV or artwork, and it works without a fan, so the warmth is quiet. An optional indoor/outdoor kit lets the Luxuria sit in an exterior wall, with the fire visible from the patio and the living room at the same time. Multi-colored LED lights in the ember bed and along the top mean the fireplace holds the room even with the flames off—a glowing ember bed on a July evening, no heat required. The included remote and eFIRE app run every setting from the couch. Possible Downsides • The fan kit is optional, not included. The built-in heat system works without one; add the fan kit if you want warm air pushed farther.• Media is chosen and purchased separately. Logs, glass, rocks, or globes are a required selection, not packed in the box.• The wall-mounted control is optional. Out of the box, you control it by remote and app. If you want one fire that two rooms can share, the Luxuria 74 see-through is the right decision. Both sides of the wall become the room everyone ends up in. Set the look with high-definition oak, driftwood, or birch log sets, a beach fire or woodland kit, mineral rocks, wrought iron globes, ambient-glow embers, and glass beads or embers in colors from clear to black.
