The living room gets the fire, and the dining room on the other side of the wall gets drywall. You need a fire both rooms can share. If you’re building or remodeling and the plan has two rooms that both call for the fire—living and dining, kitchen and great room, either side of a divider wall—the Napoleon Vector 50 see-through is the one built for that plan. Choose a standard single-sided unit instead and one of those rooms spends every winter looking at the back of a wall. What Makes It Special The Vector 50 has glass on both faces: one sealed fire that is the centerpiece of two rooms at once. The same flames your guests are watching from the couch are behind the dinner table, and neither room got the lesser view. The ember bed is lit by multi-colored LED lights, with top lights above the fire, and you pick the color from the included eFIRE app—on and off, flame height, and ember color all run from your phone or the included remote, without leaving your seat. Because a see-through sits in the middle of the house, Napoleon built it a full set of heat-management options: Dynamic Heat Control lowers the wall temperature above the unit so a TV or artwork can hang directly above the fire, and the hot air distribution kit moves warm air to another room—or outdoors—through flexible ducting, so the rooms on either side stay comfortable instead of cooked. Possible Downsides • The fan kit is optional, not included—add it if you want warm air pushed farther into the room.• Media is a required separate selection—the firebox doesn’t come dressed; you choose logs, driftwood, birch, glass, or rock media when you order.• Heat management for a TV above the fire is optional equipment, not built in. If you want one fire that two rooms share instead of a fireplace that picks a side, the Vector 50 see-through is the right decision. The wall between your two favorite rooms becomes the reason everyone ends up in both. Dress it with high-definition oak, driftwood, or birch logs, a woodland, mineral rock, or wrought iron globe kit, or glass beads and embers in a range of colors, then finish the opening with the black four-sided trim and add the wall-mount control if you want a switch by the door.
